New safari vehicles to be launched on 2nd of September, 2008.
It was noticed that considerable disturbances were caused to the sanctuary because of the day visitors and their vehicles. So for the better management of the sanctuary private vehicles will be stopped plying in to the sanctuary from 2nd September, 2008 onwards.
For the purpose of carrying tourists in to the sanctuary and have a memeorable visit; four safari vehicles will be launched from 2nd September, 2008 onwards. This is to cater the visitors and fullfill the following objectives.
- Minimising vehicular disturbances to the wildlife.
- Ensuring minimum speed for vehicles and other regulations with in the sanctuary.
- Empowering the local and tribal communities through EDCs and FDA.
- Sensitising the visitors and disseminating information regarding the conservation of Nature and Wildlife.

The Foundation Stone for Kerala Wildlife Tourism Information Centre at Pollachi laid by Hon’ble Minister for Forests and Housing Shri. Binoy Viswam on 15th June 2008. The objective of this project will be to develop this land which was once functioned as Timber Depot for Nemmara Division, into an important gateway of Information and facilitation cum Booking Centre for tourists visiting the various National Parks, Sanctuaries and other Ecotourism destinations of Kerala. The Kerala Wildlife Tourism Information Centre, Pollachi will act as a important hopping centre for numerous visitors from Bangalore, Chennai and Coimbatore, who intend to visit the various Sanctuaries and other Ecotourism destinations of Kerala
"Tented Niche" Inaugurated

Seven "Tented Niche" built in the sanctuary has been inaugurated by Hon. Minister for Forest and Housing, Sri Benoy Viswam.
The project is a joint venture of Kerala Forest Department, Tourism Department and the seven Eco Development Committees performing under Parambikkulam Forest Development Agency.
The enterprise ensures employment opportunities for the local people and enhanced amenities for the tourists. In the function presided over by honourable M.L.A. Sri. Chenthamarakshan. Honourable M.P. Sri Krishnadas released the CD–ROM on Parambikkulam Sanctuary and the brochure on the eco tourism program. more » |
